Denim bags

The waistband is the top edge.

Totes and crossbodies cut from real jeans. The button still buttons, the pockets still hold your keys, and every bag started as a pair someone was done with.

Built from jeans and jackets for stylists, cooks, gardeners and moms who run the place. Every patch is chosen with you, then sewn on by hand.

How it's made

From the back of the closet to the front of the outfit.

every piece starts as something someone was done with.

Sourced

Thrifted denim, donated ties, jackets from friends' closets. Maya looks for good fabric, interesting pockets and hardware worth saving.

Taken apart

Seams opened, waistbands and pockets rescued, ties pressed. The clutter on the worktable is the honest part of the job.

Reimagined

Pinned on the form, folded, knotted and rearranged until the piece has its shape. The brooch tin comes out.

Finished by hand

Stitched, frayed on purpose, tagged with a Maya's Creations label. Then it goes on the table at the next market.

Meet the maker

Hi, I'm Maya.

I started Maya's Creations at my kitchen table with a pile of old jeans, a box of my family's neckties and a feeling that too much good fabric ends up in the trash. I've been sewing most of my life. The business is newer than that, and honestly, so is the courage to put it on a table in front of strangers.

Every piece here is made by me, by hand, one at a time. No factory, no team. A sewing machine, a lot of pins, and a tin of vintage brooches I've been collecting for years. If you see something you like, it's the only one.
